Cutler's main wide out, who could have played a huge part with the team this year, never saw the field until the final two weeks of the season. Devin Aromashodu is a 6'2', 200 pound receiver who played well for the team in the in the final weeks of the season.
I never understood why coaches keep the best players on the bench until someone gets hurt and then they get an opportunity. No one ever outplays the talent on the bench, the players are just given a job and it's their job to keep until they get injured.
As of yesterday afternoon, the Chicago Bears hired Mike Martz as the offensive coordinator and some may look at this as a good decision and others simply won't. I think it will be a great decision if the front office decides to go out and bring in some talent for Martz and Cutler. The Bears' can't remain stagnant with what they have because if they do then last year will repeat itself.
Desperation time is upon head coach Lovie Smith and I don't understand why Martz took the offensive coordinator job because if the Bears don't perform this season, there is no secret that Smith will be fired and the organization will be selecting coaches again next off season. The current situation Martz has walked into will either be successful or a bust. Martz has the opportunity to do something special here in Chicago that hasn't been done in quite sometime and that is take a team that has ranked near the bottom each and every year offensively to the middle of the pack. I repeat, this will only happen if the Bears bring in some offensive weapons to go along with Cutler and Forte.
I don't know how this situation will play out for Martz and Smith, but I won't be surprised to see Smith cleaning out his office after the 2010 season and it will be a blessing to see Angelo leave town with him. Angelo isn't and will never be a good general manager. He needs to manage the Oakland Raiders or the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He would be a good fit for either organization, but then again Chicago isn't much better than those teams. The only difference is a few stars to a team were they aren't any stars. Good luck with this project Lovie, make Angelo sign some quality wide receivers or you will be working for ESPN next year.
