Men's Basketball Team Struggled On Hall of Fame Day

This past Saturday, the Benedictine men's basketball team lost a highly contested basketball game to Rockford College on Hall of Fame day, 70-60.
The first five minutes of the game went back and forth as it was tied at 6-6, but afterwards Rockford College, (10-10, 5-7) began to go on a 14-2 run before junior forward, Terry Licht ended the run on a low post basket.
With 8:36 remaining in the first half, the score was 24-13, then Licht connected on a three pointer to cut the deficit to eight, 16-24.
The score at halftime was 37-25, Rockford College.
Head coach, Keith Bunkenburg said at halftime, "We have to limit the turnovers and stop shooting so many three pointers."
Licht led the Eagles, (11-8, 5-6), with 17 points and 10 rebounds. He shot 7-11 from the field. The team shot 38 percent from the field for the game and they were 5-25 from the three point arc, which is 20 percent.
The Eagles came out with a sense of urgency in the second half and the defensive intensity picked up as the team scored the first five points to cut the deficit to nine points with 17 minutes to play.
The Eagles cut the deficit to five and Rockford responded to give them selves an 11 point advantage. The Eagles' then responded with another run to cut the score to four.
However, the run was too little and too late as the Regents from Rockford countered with an 8-0 run and closed out the game behind star junior forward Robert Malone's 24 points, 11 rebounds and five steals. Senior forward, Randon Williams pitched in with 15 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds.
