You hear the phrase "Any job is better than no job." That's something Ehrenreich went to investigate- how anyone can survive or prosper on the minimum wage. Ehrenreich traveled to different states working a variety of jobs such as a waitress, hotel maid and a Wal-Mart sales associate.
