Based on the bestselling novel by Alice Sebold, "The Lovely Bones," which explores the aftermath of a family's harrowing experience with loss. Abducted and murdered at 14 years old, Susie Salmon, played by Saoirse Ronan, watches her family from the afterlife deal with the devastating comprehension of losing a child.

Brewing with vengeance, Susie's father, played by Mark Wahlberg, obsesses over who murdered his daughter. Suspense is felt during some scenes of the film, but there is a lack of emotion found anywhere else. In a film that deals with horrifying events, the life-shattering pain does not seem to come across.
