NEW YORK, Feb. 1 (UPI) -- Andrew Young, a former aide to ex-U.S. Sen. John Edwards, said he was offered large sums of money for an alleged sex tape of the North Carolina Democrat.

Young told "Good Morning America" Monday despite being offered "gigantic amounts of money," he chose not to sell the reputed sex tape featuring Edwards and the former senator's mistress, Rielle Hunter.

Young would not specify who made the financial offer for the alleged sex tape.

The former Edwards aide did discuss his personal fears after parting ways with the candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2008.

"For several months, I used to get up at 3 a.m. and walk around the house with a baseball bat and a knife," Young told "Good Morning" about his concerns for the safety of his wife and three kids.

Young said a car ride with Edwards at the time was particularly frightening as he suspected he could be killed as part of a possible cover-up operation.

"Did I think Edwards was capable? No," Young said. "But was I scared, genuinely scared, for me and my family."
