Any student who is confused about the future, trying to find an internship, looking for a job or graduating at the end of the semester should make room on their calendars for one of the Midwest's best career fairs. On Friday, Feb. 5, CareerFest will be held at the Drury Lane Theater on 100 Drury Lane, Oakbrook Terrace, Illinois.
CareerFest will occur in two sessions. A morning session will be held from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and an afternoon session will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Professional dress is required for the event, and those who did not pre-register by Jan. 29 must pay a $20 fee to attend.
Sponsored by Kimberly-Clark Corporation, ABC Supply Company Inc., Andersen Pest Solutions and Dupage Credit Union, CareerFest is exclusive to Illinois Small College Placement Association schools. According to ISCPA's website, the purpose of CareerFest is to connect quality student and alumni candidates from ISCPA member schools with employers who want to hire for their job and internship positions.
Over sixty employers will attend CareerFest, including representatives from First Midwest Bank, The Children's Home of Association of Illinois, TEKsystems, the Illinois Department of Human Services, Peace Corps, Imagination Publishing and the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. They will all be looking for a wide variety of students in different academic fields, so students of all majors are invited to attend.
Some positions that the employers are looking to fill include graphic designers, credit analysts, life skills instructors, youth care workers, financial advisors and web developers. Several internships will be offered to accounting, psychology, music, English, economics, marketing and engineer majors.
Students are advised to start developing their resumes for
CareerFest. In preparation for the fair, several workshops will be offered before the event to review resumes and give students tips on how to stand out and what to expect. The workshops are free and will be held in the Alumni Conference Room in the Krasa Center from 12:20 p.m. to 1:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 2, Wednesday, Feb. 3 and Thursday, Feb. 4.
For more information, visit www.iscpa.org, or contact the Career Development Center, either at their office in Krasa 010 or by calling (630) 829-6040.
