Benedictine has found well over 20 ways to celebrate International Education Week that will begin on Sunday, Nov. 15 and last through Friday, Nov. 20.
International Education Week is a program initiated through the joint effort of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education to celebrate international education.
According to the International Education Week website, the nation is trying to "prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences in the United States."
During this time, the International Club, China Ben, BUFF and Latin American Heritage Club will host a number of events on campus to spread cultural awareness and get students involved in international activities.
BU will start the week off early with the International Olympics on Sunday, Nov. 15. The day will begin in Krasa 020 at 12 p.m. and go until 5 p.m., giving students a chance to play sports and win prizes. Winners of capture the flag, soccer, bags and ping-pong will win tickets to Friday's Multicultural Show. Willing participant must sign up in the International Programs Office.
On Monday, BUFF will lead a Diversity Forum from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. to help the community recognize the fallacy of stereotypes.
Students will also be presented with various options for studying abroad in the Study Abroad Fair on Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Krasa Student Center, Room C.
Cultural Games and Language will occur on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Krasa Fireside Lounge. Students will be able to try their hand at games of different countries as well as learn Danish, Spanish, Korean and other foreign language phrases.
Wednesday evening, BU will host four cultural speakers from China, Egypt, and the Middle East from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Birck 112.
Everyone is welcome to get a taste of assorted cultures on Thursday for Global Food Day. From 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., food ranging from Danish to French to Chinese cuisine will be served in the Kindlon Atrium - free of charge.
