In a world of uncertainty, are you prepared for the unthinkable? That is the question the Benedictine University Police are addressing. On Nov. 4, BU Police will have one of their first personal safety training session from noon to 12:30 p.m. This session will be held in the Krasa Center Presentation Room.

The main part of the presentation will be a showing of the "Shots Fired on Campus" Video. The University Police will be introducing the topic before the presentation begins - along with providing closing remarks and answering any questions that the participants may have about what they have scene in the video.

The video is expected to last about 20 minutes - the total presentation will not be over a half hour so attendees can go have lunch. The topic of the presentation is in regards to what an individual should do if there is a life threatening encounter on campus.

Michael Salatino, BU Chief of Police, stated that this is the first production quality video that is for this topic. He continues to state that it will provide a visual for students and give them "Buzz Words" to remember during an actual situation. It will also help increase the chances people could survive a shooting on a college campus.

"When a suspicious incident happens on campus, people will react much better," said Salatino on the main reason BU is making this presentation available to staff and students.

This is not the first time Salatino will be seeing student's reactions - he has seen reactions from other universities already. He stated there were many positive responses from the people who saw the video. Not only did it provide them with good information, but it stimulated their thinking and left them asking valuable questions.

Salatino stated that this is a good presentation to have at a university - the lessons can be used anywhere a situation should arise.

"It is regrettable that we must expose people to this, but it is part of this day and age," said Salatino.
