In addition to giving a recital at the Festival, Walsh will be a part of the Concert Band. She has been playing for the band every other semester since freshman year and is confident that this year's Festival will "be enjoyable for both the audience and the performers."
Flock guarantees the Festival will present "some of the finest [musicians] on campus. They are talented and energetic individuals who have a radiant passion for music."
As for the music, attendees will hear "mainly classical music composed for Concert Band … and solo instruments," stated Dr. Luis Loubriel, Director of the Department of Music.
Flock went into more detail, highlighting a few interesting pieces on the Concert Band program.
"[In] "Crystals" by Thomas Duffy, members of the band actually "play" crystal wine glasses ... we are also performing "Klezmer Classics" … and painting a musical picture of Vincent VanGogh's painting "The Potato Eaters."'
Loubriel encourages everyone to attend the Festival of the Arts and "enjoy the music performances." He is confident that "this year's Festival will be enjoyed by all audience members."
The event is free and open to the public and a great way to support fellow classmates while enjoying talented performers. For more information on the Festival of the Arts, contact the Department of Music at (630) 829-6320.
