Running was not an issue for the Eagles football team this past weekend as they ran all over Maranatha Baptist Bible College, 32-6. The Eagles dominated Maranatha Baptist for the second consecutive year by the score of 76-6. Last year, was a treat as BU defeated them 44-0.

The offense for the Eagles was led by freshman running back John Alessi who ran for 204 yards on 30 carries and scored three touchdowns.

It's safe to say that the Eagles have found yet another running back to add to their mix of talented offensive players.
BU scored its first offensive touchdown in the second quarter with a one yard run at the goal line by starting quarterback, Dave Klinger to make the score 7-0.

At the beginning of the third quarter Alessi made a 31 yard touchdown run to put his team up, 14-0.

All throughout the game the Eagles defense was sharp, but especially in the third quarter when Eddie Hill Jr and Dan Kleppin made their mark on the game. Hill had four tackles and one and half sacks.

Kleppin intercepted a pass from Maranatha and also ran for a touchdown after a blocked punt from Eddie Hill, Jr making the Eagles go up by 20-0.

The Eagles kicker missed the extra point.

The Eagles continued to pound the ball on the ground as Alessi looked to get stronger as the game continued.

Alessi ran for two more touchdowns, but one was apparent on a 61 yard rushing touchdown.

After the game Coach Cooper was asked about his team's performance and his running back gaining 200 rushing yards.

"Wow, I didn't know that. We just wanted to play a good game. Not embarrass anyone, but play a good ballgame."

Matt Brown, backup quarterback for the Eagles also played and he was 4-7 for 54 yard and one interception. Klinger threw 2-5 for 30 yards and no interceptions.

Neither man threw for touchdowns as this game was all about the run.

The Eagles are now (3-3,2-1) and have a big contest possibly for the NAC crown as they face Lakeland this coming Saturday at the Sports Complex at 1p.m.
