Only three players from the Benedictine softball team are seniors and will not be returning next season. Even so, the young Lady Eagles have managed to be a force in the Northern Athletics Conference, holding a 22-9 record this year.

In short - BU softball seems prepared to compete this year, next season and well into the future.

The softball team currently has five juniors, six sophomores and six freshmen on their staff, and who knows the team's stars on the diamond better than their fearless leaders?

Seniors Kim Bakota, Kristin Bonk and Blair Erickson have helped lead the team in the 2009 season and took some time to comment on a few of the future BU softball stars.

#5 - Brittany Adcox - Freshman - P
"Brittany is a freshman starting pitcher who hits her spots well and gets her job in the circle defensively. She has been a great addition to our pitching staff this year."

#18 - Cassie Cappetto - Sophomore - 1B
"Cassie is one of our best returning players from last year and has her spot locked down at first base. She is practically a vacuum at first and covers her ground well."

#15 - Laura Christensen - Freshman - OF
"She's our leadoff hitter and has great speed. Laura starts in center field, covers a lot of ground and is a big asset to our outfield. She has a very positive attitude and always comes ready to play."

#7 - Sam Corban - Sophomore - P/2B
"Sam was a pitcher and outfielder last year, but has moved to second base and has done a wonderful job there for us. She still gets pitching time but seems to have found her niche at second base. She is an excellent contact hitter and always finds a way to put the bat on the ball."

#8 - Erin Galloway - Junior - DH/OF
"Bakota calls her 'the warrior.' Erin is a transfer from a junior college and a very agressive player. In the beginning of the season, she did not see a lot of playing time, but as the season has gone on she has worked her way into the line-up as a right fielder and designated player."
