Book Review

The New York Times bestselling author, Chris Bohjalian, released his newest novel, "Secrets of Eden," in early February. Beginning with the baptism of Alice Hayward, Alice emerges from the water stating simply the word 'there.' The word 'there' is what haunts the Reverend, as the next morning Alice is found dead along with her husband. (0) comments

Dubfx

Music Review

Dubfx, the international electro-gypsy, released his first studio album, "Everythinks a Ripple" last January. While, the recordings retain the trippy feel of his live performances, the tracks are all too clean for the gritty artist. The beats are overly synthesized and the processed vocals sound hollow compared to the soul of his sophomore live album, "Live In The Street. (0) comments

Melissa De La Cruz and Tom Dobly's novel, "Girsl who like Boys who like Boys," is a collection of essays that reveal the inner-workings of a unique type of relationship. This assortment of stories explores the dynamics between straight women and gay men-how they function, why they work and most importantly the appeal to this form of friendship. (0) comments

Picking up from where "Leaving Ireland" lead off, "Til Morning Light," tells the final aspects of the story of Gracelin O'Malley. Gracelin O'Malley, finally arrives in New York City, after surviving the long and strenuous journey to America; in addition to the horrific events of the Irish Famine. (0) comments

"The Crazies"

Movie Review

With a mix of surprise, suspense and gore "The Crazies" does prove to be somewhat of an original movie. Although it is a remake, this holds up to the horrors of today. Unlike other horror films, the movie takes hold of the viewer from the start instead of forcing the audience to watch the first 30 minutes of character buildup. (0) comments

"Shutter Island"

After much anticipation, Martin Scorsese's new hit, "Shutter Island," has been released. The film is set in 1954, on the remote Shutter Island off of Boston's coast. Leonardo DiCaprio plays U.S. marshal Teddy Daniels, who is assigned to investigate the mysterious disappearance of a patient from Ashecliffe Hospital. (0) comments

Music Review

On Thursday, Feb. 25, Chicago group, SoundRight, performed on the BU campus at the Spring 2010 Poetry Slam. The all female Muslim group formed in 2008 due to the lack of Muslim women in the performing arts and amazed audiences with their homemade instruments. (0) comments

Sci-Fi

Showing of "Star Wars"

Sci-fi/Fantasy club sponsored February's "Star Wars" month. Each Wednesday in February the group met to watch the epic trilogy. The event was fun, and a nerd's delight. Watching the movies with other fans on a large projector screen reminded me why I fell in love with the movies in the first place. (0) comments
